Key Speakers

Professor Gu Fang

Professor Fang is the Associate Dean (International) in the School of Engineering and a Professor of Mechatronics Engineering at Western Sydney University. His research areas are robotics, computer vision, and artificial intelligence. He has published many papers and had many research grants from sources such as Australian Research Council (ARC), and National Natural Science Foundation of China. He had Visiting Scholar appointments in Australia and China. He has also won many national teaching awards that included a citation award from the Australian Office for Learning and Teaching.

Dimitri Makris

Dimitri Makris is the Director of Marketing and Admissions at Western Sydney University International College. With over 15 years’ experience, Dimitri has worked in multiple sectors including public and private, providing leadership and vision in international higher education in Australia. He has developed, planned and executed sales, marketing, engagement and internationalisation strategies across Asia, Africa, Middle East, Europe and the Americas. A graduate of Macquarie Graduate School of Management and University of South Australia, Dimitri believes in the opportunities and improvement education bestows on people.

Professor Alana Maururshat

Dr Alana Maurushat, is a Professor of Cybersecurity and Behaviour at Western Sydney University where she holds a joint position in the School of Computers, Data and Mathematical Sciences, and in the School of Social Sciences. Alana is the Associate Dean International in the School of Computers, Data and Mathematical Sciences and is Key Researcher with the CRC Smart Satellites. She is currently researching on Payment Diversion Fraud and Ransomware, Cyber Reputation Risk Management, Tracking Money-Laundering through Bitcoin Blenders, distributed extreme edge computing for micro-clustered satellites, and Ethical Hacking.
